Tennessee Sinkholes

Sinkholes occur when water dissolves rock, such as limestone, below the surface and creates a cavern or hole. Sinkholes vary in depth and size and can be damaging and dangerous.

Sinkholes can threaten and damage Tennessee homes. Call USS for sinkhole repairs.

What sinkhole signs should you look for?

If you are a homeowner and you believe your house may be in danger from sinkholes in Tennessee, then don't waste any time getting it looked at and taken care of. There are many signs to look for when checking for sinkholes. A few of these signs include:

  • Cracks on interior or exterior of home: Look for cracks that occur on walls, windows, doors and floors. Bricks forming a diagonal or stair step looking crack can be a sign of structural issues. Cracks will often form in corners and plaster.
  • Doors and Windows: A stiff door or a jammed window could be a sign of foundation or structural issues. If you have noticed that windows no longer close properly, or a door has difficulty shutting, you should have a foundation repair expert evaluate your home for sinkholes or foundation issues.
  • Other Problems: Check your sidewalk and driveway for cracks. If you see signs that your home's foundation is exposed, note the change. Talk with your neighbor and see if they have had sinkhole damage, foundation repair or sinkhole repair done in the past.
